Veteran author Dr. R. C. Sproul has published
dozens of best-selling titles. His work tackles
difficult topics including ethics, prayer,
marriage, suffering, and the glory of God as
well as a variety of Bible study themes.
Some of his popular works include Now That's a
Good Question, Faith Alone, New Geneva Study
Bible, The Holiness of God, The Soul's Quest for
God, Essential Truths of the Christian Faith,
Following Christ, Surprised By Suffering, Chosen
by God, The Intimate Marriage, and Ethics and the Christian.
Dr. Sproul received his B.A. in
Philosophy from Westminster College in 1961, his
B.D. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in
1964, Drs. (Doctorandus Dogmatik) from the Free
University of Amsterdam in 1969, his Litt.D.
from Geneva College in 1976, and his L.H.D. from
Grove City College in 1993. Dr. Sproul began
his professional career after being ordained to
the gospel ministry of the United Presbyterian
Church in 1965.
He has served the Lord in a variety of
capacities. He was an instructor of Philosophy
and Theology at Westminster College, an
Assistant Professor of Theological Studies at
Gordon College, and the Director of the
Coalition for Christian Outreach, Inc., from
1971 to 1976. Dr. Sproul was a visiting professor of apologetics at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary from 1971 to 1981, professor of systematic
theology and apologetics at the Reformed
Theological Seminary from 1980 to 1995, and the
director of Prison Fellowship, Inc., from
1979 to 1984. Dr. Sproul's active professional
schedule currently includes his service as the
director of Serve International, Inc., visiting
professor at the Knox Theological Seminary,
adjunct professor at the Reformed Theological
Seminary, the director of the Foundation for
Reformation, the chairman of Ligonier
Ministries, and the senior minister of
preaching at Saint Andrews Chapel.
Dr. Sproul is married to Vesta Ann Voorhis and
they have two grown children. They currently
reside in Orlando, Florida.
