Counselor Sandra Wilson is the best-selling
author of Counseling Adult Children of
Alcoholics, Released from Shame, Shame-Free
Parenting, Hurt People Hurt People, and The World According to Me: Recognizing and
Releasing Our Illusions of Control. Her book
Overcoming Abandonment was written in reply to the intense response she receives when
discussing abandonment issues in seminars,
conferences, and seminary classes. She
concludes that the fear of abandonment plays a
major role in much of the confusion and
distress that drive individuals to seek
counseling. The book includes questions for
personal reflection and practical suggestions to
increase awareness of abandonment and the role
these issues play in personal lives and
relationships.
Sandra received her B.A. from the
University of Cincinnati in 1980, her M.S.W.
in 1982 from the University of Louisville, and
her Ph.D. from The Union Institute in 1988. She
has served as a case counselor at Cancer Family
Care and as a counseling coordinator at the
Faith Evangelical Free Church in Milford, Ohio.
Sandra currently rotates her duties as a
visiting professor at three schools: the Denver
Conservative Baptist Seminary, Associated
Canadian Theological Schools, and Trinity
Evangelical Divinity School.
